HALLE, Germany (AP) — Daniil Medvedev lost in the Halle Open quarterfinals and continued his mixed start to the grass-court season, while Jannik Sinner’s preparations for Wimbledon were disrupted when an adductor muscle injury forced him to retire from his match on Friday.Medvedev was upset by Roberto Bautista Agut 7-5, 7-6 (3) for only his second loss in nine quarterfinals this season. The third-ranked Russian dropped to a 2-2 record on grass this season following his first-round loss at the Libema Open last week. Bautista Agut faces another Russian opponent, Andrey Rublev, in the semifinals after Rublev converted his fifth match point against Tallon Griekspoor to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and end a seven-match win streak for Griekspoor, the Libema Open winner.Organizers said Sinner retired from his match against Alexander Bublik after straining his adductor while trying to react to a drop shot from Bublik. (AP) — Denny McCarthy set a new 36-hole course record by following up a first-round 60 with a 65 to extend his lead to four strokes after the morning rounds Friday at the Travelers Championship. The 30-year-old Maryland native started slowly, bogeying the second hole. But that was the only blemish on a round that included six birdies, five of them on the back nine. His two-day score of 125 is a stroke better than the first two rounds Xander Schauffele put up during his run to the title a year ago and Justin Rose’s first 36 holes in 2010, when he finished tied for ninth.“It’s nice, but golf tournaments aren’t 36 holes unfortunately,” McCarthy said. “I know there’s still a lot of golf left and I’m playing some really nice golf, so I’m looking forward to having fun this weekend.”McCarthy is trying to become the 18th player to pick up his first PGA Tour victory in Connecticut since Ken Duke did it in 2013.Eric Cole shot a 65 on Friday to...

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. Instead, the deputies got a tone that was the equivalent of a busy signal.Peterson’s primary defense to the felony child neglect charges is that the gunshots’ echo made i...
