IDRISS D is a Lunatic 2: Drum & bass artist IDRISS D has been DJing since 1998 when he was living in Algeria, playing with K7 decks and a Pitch Amatoriale Control.“My first record release was out in 2007, and I was putting all my focus and passion into music since day 1,” he says. “I remember I used to play tracks from Larry Levan and Funky K7 when others were playing DJ Bobo. At the time it was a passion but when I started to get releases and shows which actually paid me (the first was in 2002) then I realised this could be something I can actually eat and live off.”Today, IDRISS D says that he essentially plays electronic music, in venues of all sizes, “as well as minimal and electronica, with drum and bass influence,” he says. “Sometimes it’s trippy and sometimes it’s more than big banger track.”His latest release is Lunatic 2.“I started to work on the release in March 2023,” he says. “Lunatic 2 is the fo...

Delivery delays impact availability of new COVID-19 boosters at Bay Area pharmacies

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:03:30 GMT

Three weeks after the federal government approved the latest COVID-19 vaccine, the rollout has been rocky.Even as the number of cases climb, delayed vaccine deliveries are being reported by CVS, Walgreens, Kaiser, long-term care facilities and other providers, causing consumers to wait for appointments.“There are supply issues,” said Los Altos geriatric specialist Dr. Mehrdad Ayati. “We have a backorder situation.”For patients under age 12, the vaccine is not available yet. Manufacturers and distributors got out the adult vaccines first, CDC director Mandy Cohen told reporters last week. Pediatric vaccines require different dose sizes and packaging. The CDC recommended on Sept. 12 that everyone ages 6 months and older get an updated vaccine, after the shots were cleared by the Food and Drug Administration. The reformulated shot, developed by Pfizer and Moderna, can better help fight off infection because it is designed to protect against the variant XBB.1.5, a recent desce...

Does your child have head lice? How to get rid of it for good

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:03:30 GMT

By Jocelyn Solis-Moreira | CNNMarianne had a phone call she would never forget. Her daughter’s preschool called and asked her to pick up her child because she had lice.As someone who had never dealt with lice growing up and whose older daughter had sailed through childhood without the problem either, she was not too sure she’d find. (Marianne didn’t want to use her last name to protect her family’s privacy.)At first glance, 4-year-old Anna looked fine — save for the occasional itch. It wasn’t until one of the school staff parted her hair that Marianne noticed the pesky critters nested in her daughter’s hair. For the next few weeks, Marianne tried all kinds of treatments, only for the lice to keep coming back.“I couldn’t emotionally deal with my disgust at the entire situation,” she said. “I wanted to burn my house down.”Any parent dealing with head lice can probably relate to this situation. These parasitic insects burrow deeply to the root of hair and suck the blood from people’s s...

49ers Week 5 mailbag: Is MVP honor McCaffrey’s path to Hall of Fame?

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:03:30 GMT

SANTA CLARA – Deion Sanders would have been an ideal host for this week’s 49ers mailbag, before the Dallas Cowboys visit for Sunday night’s game at Levi’s Stadium. Alas, he’s busy in the college ranks, so, just believe we’ll do our best to answer these social media questions:When will CMC become a true Hall of Famer? (@jbati_8052)Good to know we’ve already jumped from Christian McCaffrey being an NFL MVP candidate to a Canton-bound legend. What a great (and necessary) stepping stone that would be if he becomes the first running back since Adrian Peterson in 2012 to win league MVP. McCaffrey is enjoying the NFL’s best start this season (459 rushing yards, 600 total yards, seven touchdowns). There are SO many games still to play this season. And Roger Craig, the pioneer of the 1K/1K fraternity that includes McCaffrey, is still waiting for his Pro Football Hall of Fame entry (see: Class of 2025). For what it’s worth, McCaffrey rates 107th among running backs on ProFootballReferen...
